Relief Carving Pt 2

Relief carving is all about illusion – we only have a relatively thin piece of timber but need to create the illusion of depth.

The first and easiest way to do this is to recognise and establish any angles present in the picture – only too often these are not worked correctly in the carving and a very flat result is achieved. Here, we need to add a few lines first to identify work areas.
